Chain Support Update

September 16, 2026. Lombard is concentrating LBTC and BTC.b on the chains and applications that offer the richest utility for BTC DeFi users. Native minting and redemption are deprecated on five chains: TAC, Sonic, Katana, Berachain and Starknet. New mints and redeems will be disabled. Holders on TAC, Sonic, Katana and Berachain need to bridge to Ethereum by December 10, 2026. The Starknet bridge remains in place, so LBTC can still move between Ethereum and Starknet.

Everything else continues as today. Lombard remains a direct route from Bitcoin to every supported chain: you can still mint LBTC or BTC.b from native BTC on any remaining chain, redeem back to BTC from that chain, and use your assets in DeFi there.

Five chains deprecated
Native minting and redemption of LBTC and BTC.b are deprecated on TAC, Sonic, Katana, Berachain and Starknet. New mints and redeems will be disabled.
Deadline: December 10, 2026
Holders on TAC, Sonic, Katana and Berachain are required to bridge all balances to Ethereum by December 10, 2026. Ethereum is the only bridge destination from those chains. The Starknet bridge remains in place.
Every other chain continues
Minting from BTC, redemption and DeFi on Ethereum, Base, BNB Chain, Avalanche, Solana, Sui and the other supported chains are unchanged.

Deprecated Chains

As part of this strategic review, native minting and redemption for LBTC and BTC.b are deprecated on the following chains, effective September 16, 2026. New mints and redeems will be disabled.

Holders on TAC, Sonic, Katana and Berachain should bridge existing balances back to Ethereum before December 10, 2026. See Migrate from a Deprecated Chain below.

Starknet is different. The lock and mint bridge between Ethereum and Starknet remains in place, so LBTC held on Starknet is not subject to the December 10 deadline. Only native minting and redemption on Starknet are deprecated: to redeem LBTC held on Starknet for BTC, bridge it to Ethereum first and redeem from there.

For BTC.b specifically, the only valid destination for supply bridging out of Katana is Ethereum. BTC.b does not bridge from Katana back to Avalanche or to any other chain.


What Is Not Changing

Lombard is, in effect, a bridge from Bitcoin to every chain it supports. That does not change. On Ethereum, Base, BNB Chain, Avalanche, Etherlink, MegaETH, Monad, Stable, Solana and Sui you can still:

  • Mint LBTC directly from BTC. Deposit native BTC and choose the chain you want to receive LBTC on. No bridging step is involved.
  • Redeem LBTC for native BTC from that chain.
  • Use LBTC in DeFi exactly as before. Existing integrations, collateral behaviour and redemption rights are unchanged.

BTC.b continues to mint from BTC and redeem on Ethereum, Avalanche, MegaETH, Monad and Stable.

LBTC and BTC.b are available on the chains below, and you can mint directly from BTC to any of them. Moving tokens that are already minted from one chain to another is covered in Bridging Between Chains.

Bridging Between Chains

Minting from BTC is unaffected by this update. What changes is how LBTC and BTC.b that are already minted move between chains. Bridging now follows a hub and spoke model anchored on Ethereum: every supported chain has a bridge lane to and from Ethereum, and a transfer between two other chains routes through Ethereum rather than directly.

Fewer bridge contracts and message paths mean a smaller surface to secure and monitor, and security budget and engineering resources concentrate on the lanes that carry the most value. Ethereum is also where LBTC and BTC.b liquidity runs deepest and integrations run widest.

Migrate from a Deprecated Chain

If you hold LBTC or BTC.b on TAC, Sonic, Katana or Berachain, move your balance to Ethereum before December 10, 2026.

If you hold LBTC on Starknet, no action is required. The bridge between Ethereum and Starknet remains in place, and there is no deadline. Bridge to Ethereum only if you want to redeem for BTC or use your LBTC on another chain.

Before You Start

Withdraw from DeFi first
Unwind any lending, LP or vault position on the deprecated chain so the full LBTC or BTC.b balance sits in your wallet.
Have gas on the source chain
The bridge transaction is paid in the deprecated chain’s native gas token.
Have an Ethereum address ready
Your LBTC or BTC.b arrives on Ethereum at the same wallet address.

  1. Go to lombard.finance/app  and connect your wallet on the deprecated chain.
  2. Select Bridge. Ethereum is the only available destination from TAC, Sonic, Katana or Berachain.
  3. Enter the full balance you want to move and confirm the transaction.
  4. Wait for confirmation. Your LBTC or BTC.b arrives on Ethereum, where you can hold it, deploy it into DeFi, bridge it onward to a supported chain, or redeem it for native BTC.

BTC.b on Katana

BTC.b is the only Lombard asset on Katana besides LBTC. Bridge it to Ethereum. It cannot be bridged from Katana back to Avalanche or to any other chain. Once on Ethereum, BTC.b can be bridged onward to Avalanche, MegaETH, Monad or Stable.
