An explanation of this table follows.

Bridge Type

  • None: No bridging is currently available for this blockchain.

  • Native: Bridging is to Lombard Protocol's security standards, requiring both the Security Consortium and a third-party to approve all bridging transactions.

  • Lock & Mint: Bridging is possible in a limited-capacity. Liquidity is locked on the source chain (i.e. Ethereum).

  • Canonical: Bridging is possible via a third-party only.

LBTC Ownership

  • Lombard Protocol: LBTC smart contracts are fully owned and upgradable by Lombard Protocol.

  • Community: LBTC has been deployed with a third-party, usually the blockchain its self, to provide early LBTC availability on-chain. This means that the blockchain is not fully integrated into our Security Consortium for native BTC staking and unstaking, and additional attestations to enable bridging in a burn & mint method. After sufficient established demand and by passing a governance vote, Lombard Protocol will take control of LBTC if offered.

  • Third-Party: LBTC, or a generic ERC-20 contract representing LBTC, has been deployed by a third-party.

Native BTC Staking

  • Yes: LBTC can be minted directly to this blockchain from a native BTC deposit into the Lombard Protocol. LBTC can also be unstaked to native BTC.

  • No: LBTC cannot be directly acquired through native BTC staking, and LBTC can't be redeemed for native BTC on this blockchain. LBTC is available via other methods (bridging or PMM support).

PMM Support

Private Market Maker module is a smart contract providing easy onboarding (a single transaction atomic swap) to LBTC from other popular BTC derivative assets.
